Quantum Leap: The Impossible Dream

Just letting you know that I’m writing a new audio drama, but this one is unrelated to Firefly, and unrelated to the Signal.

The audio drama will be called “Quantum Leap: The Impossible Dream”. It’s a series. It will air on The Quantum Leap Podcast. Albie says the first episode should air before the 15th.

And as you might have guessed from the title, it’s a spinoff from Quantum Leap: new leaper, new adventures.

  1. I am still going through Signal Podcast withdrawals. Life took a turn for the worse for a while, and I was too preoccupied and frazzled to listen regularly for awhile, which was…unlike me. Then the forum had serious trouble of some kind, and then when I got back to listen, I’d found out the podcast itself had a Big Damn Hiatus, Sir, and was going to wind down, with no idea yet if it would have any successor or morph into some strange new lifeform, like bringing ice planets to the fuzzy-wuzzies, or somethin’….

I’m glad to see there will be a blog and there’s something else going on about the online game, which (surprisingly) hasn’t gone into the bit bucket in the sky.

Quantum Leap, eh? Now, that goes back a ways. I didn’t get to see all the episodes during the original run. Life going on and weird TV scheduling nuttiness, something like certain other SF&F shows have had. But I still recall some of it and the basic premise.

I’ve been doing voice acting for a few audio podcasts, almost all genre, but I’d be happy to do non-genre too, of course. (See the Voice and Audio section on my site for what I’ve done.)

I’ve resolved a sound issue that cropped up, and I’m about to re-record lines for an upcoming two series. I’ll be a guest in one and a regular in another.

So, if the Leapers are looking for auditions, I’d be glad to submit something. I’ve played aliens and humans and I’ve done accents, character acting stuff.

(By the way, I’d still love to do something in the Firefly ‘Verse. I’ll always love Firefly and Farscape, and heck, science fiction in general.)

  2. Hi, BlueCatShip,

Sorry, I hope I didn’t give the wrong impression. Thing is, I’m just the writer; I’m not involved in casting, and the people who are involved in casting are not involved in this blog.

If you wanted to get involved in the QLP, you would need to head over to the QLP website, and ask the creators of that podcast. So far as I am aware, they are not looking for auditions right now, but who knows what’s down the line?

  3. BlueCatShip,
    I sent you an email.

Ooooh more of Jill’s audio drama writing! I will be listening, though it’s been a long time since I have watched Quantum Leap. 🙂

    Miranda,

It had been a long time since I watched Quantum Leap as well. Found a sweet bargain price for the Season 1 DVD and watched it. Now I have to get the rest of the series on DVD.

  6. The first part is out now. It’s at quantumleappodcast.com. Look out for the episode “Leaping In Without a Net”. The new audio drama – Quantum Leap: The Impossible Dream – is a segment within that podcast episode.

Here’s a little bit more info about the drama: The original QL was set in 1999 (which, when it aired, was the future); but our QL:TID is set in 2020. So time has passed, and things have changed, and there’s a new crew at Project Quantum Leap, and in particular, a new leaper, Amber Leigh. Because she can only leap within her own lifetime, our stories will be set in the 1990s and upward. The other critical difference between this series and the original is that Amber can leap home – and will do so at the end of every adventure. That’s partly why it’s called “The Impossible Dream”.

Thanks Jill, I’ll be sure to check it out soon!
